CONSTRUCTION

The new LEEC Culture Safe CO2 Incubator has a fully sealed, electro-polished, one-piece, deep drawn chamber, manufactured from the highest grade 316 stainless steel. The outer cabinet is manufactured from stainless steel, and has an anti-bacterial powder coat paint finish. This gives the incubator exceptional corrosion and contamination resistance. An inner glass viewing door closes positively onto an inert (no VOC’s) gasket and allows a clear view of the chamber contents without disturbing the internal atmosphere. The outer door has a magnetic gasket providing a good seal. A side access port allows temperature monitoring probes to be inserted safely into the incubator chamber.


UNIQUE HEATING

A new 6 sided direct heating system with high performance insulation ensure the highest standards in temperature control and stability. The independent outer door heater ensures that the inner glass door remains condensate free.   

 
ANTI-CONTAMINATION

We have designed this incubator to eliminate contamination inside the chamber. Features include fan-less air circulation, a crevice-free, electro-polished, one-piece chamber, HEPA filtered gas inlet and a market leading 200°C hot air sterilisation cycle. Externally, the paint contains an active anti-bacterial biocide.


CONTROL SYSTEM

The multi-function, PID touch screen module controls the temperature, CO2, and alarm functions (including low gas and power failure) and provides real time data logging in graphical and text format. The module also allows data to be downloaded. An independent safety cut out disconnects the heating system should an over temperature condition occur. The module can be password protected too, stopping any unauthorised adjustment to the control systems.

These CO2 incubators set advanced standards in performance and freedom from contamination. The two Research models have the added benefit of a high temperature decontamination facility.

ADVANCED MICROPROCESSOR CONTROL

The specially developed microprocessor controller gives the user day to day control over all alarm settings, alarm delay and calibration adjustment. These settings are protected by an anti-tampering procedure. Sensors placed within key areas of the chamber constantly monitor and enable the control system to optimise temperature and CO2 levels. After door opening, the culture conditions quickly recover without overshoot, and stable control is maintained. Profiled heating, a technique developed by LEEC, eliminates all risk of "hot-spots".

The entire range of LEEC CO2 incubators (regardless of age) can be cooled when connected to a self contained recirculating cooler unit.

ACTIVE CONTAMINATION CONTROL

All models have a unidirectional airflow in the work area, an in-line HEPA filter and an ultra smooth stainless steel chamber with rounded edges. The indirectly heated inner glass door remains condensation free. These features all help to reduce any risk of contamination. The Research models also have a high temperature decontamination facility operated by a security keyswitch. User experience has shown high temperature to be especially effective in eliminating culture contamination.

IN-VIVO SIMULATION

The advanced LEEC 20.2 microprocessor combined with the ducted airflow system ensures that temperature and CO2 stabilities (typically <±0.1°C and <±0.2%) are maintained to the tightest toleranced in order to give optimim "in-vivo" simulation.

LEEC multi gas / low oxygen incubator

This is the logical choice for researchers wishing to recreate the ultimate "in-vivo" conditions. There are many published papers showing that under such culturing conditions some mammalian cell-lines can grow more naturally, in higher densities and with superior extra-cellular activity.

MICROPROCESSOR CONTROLS

Easy to use, tamper proof PID controllers show both "set" and "measured" values for temperature, O2 and CO2. The user is therefore able to easily confirm the incubator performance. Sensors for all parameters are placed in the airflow to guarantee fast response to any change in the environmental conditions.

The entire range of LEEC CO2 incubators (regardless of age) can be cooled when connected to a self contained recirculating cooler unit.

OXYGEN CONTROL

An oxygen controller with a maintenance free fuel cell mounted at the rear of the chamber, constantly monitors and adjusts the oxygen level in the chamber by injecting N2 gas. Rapid recovery of temperature, O2 and CO2 ensures that cells are constantly maintained under ideal culture conditions.

DECONTAMINATION

As standard, the incubator has a key controlled high temperature decontamination facility fitted. There is no need to remove any shelving or ducts, and no drawbacks such as toxic vapours to worry about.
